The Internet of Things (IoT) meeting the needs of trading ports

A European research project featured at Orange’s 2021 Research Exhibition, involving 15 partners including the major sea ports of Bordeaux and Thessaloniki, the Pixel platform aims to define a scientific and technical solution for measuring the environmental impact of trading ports.

“This evaluation is carried out using a replicable solution for data collection and processing.”

This evaluation is carried out using a replicable solution for data collection and processing.
The project is structured around three lines of action:
– identifying and defining scientific models and algorithms to evaluate the different components of the environmental impact of port activity;
– providing a replicable, open source platform for collecting diverse data, feeding processing algorithms and compiling data;
– deploying the solution in the specific context of four pilot ports, with four use cases: measuring environmental impact, managing energy, managing intermodal transport, and managing port-city relations.
