What are the financial practices of informal sector entrepreneurs, who form a diverse and vast group and are undoubtedly the driving force in developing economies? This is an important question because the difficulty in accessing credit and the problems related to financing business activity are the most salient features of the informal sector and have long been identified as such by research in development economics. Furthermore, there has been a new trend: informal sector entrepreneurs are widely adopting mobile technology and have new mobile payment and credit access tools with mobile money.
