The role of sociability in collaborative exchanges

All collaborative consumption platforms promise, to some extent, a "human" and "friendly" experience. Many claim to forge social bonds in post-modern societies in which such ties are sorely lacking. Quantitative studies suggest that social motivations are only slightly less important to users than economic factors. However, such studies do not reflect the reality of users’ experiences.
